TUESDAY FEBRUARY 22, 2011
So kids, it’s been a while. The Holidays have come and gone, spring is almost here and it seems like everyone is feeling pretty creative! I’ve been working on some new things and although they may seem like simple still life’s, they really represent a complete break in style for me. At this point it’s not what I’m painting, its how I’m painting and I’m feeling charged-up and excited about painting again. The last show was exhausting (Big Fun to be sure) it took a lot out of me and I was drained, but ya know, back on the horse as they say! I hope all is well with everyone. PLEASE drop me a line and let me know what you think, I love comments, lover or hate, doesn’t matter. And remember, new show opening December 2011, never to early to mark it in your calendars!
Peace & Love

TUESDAY AUGUST 10, 2010
The show is about a month away and it’s all getting very exciting. Had a fitting for my Goblin coat I’m having made to wear to the opening, so that should be absurd in itself. Also all the new paintings are up in thumbnail view for you to look at. I’ll link them to full page images the week before the show but for now you can see the insanity that’s consumed my life for the last year. Remember the opening reception is Wednesday September 8th at 6pm. I suggest you’re getting there close to on time as we are expecting quite a crowd. I hope you enjoy the paintings and please feel free to write back (mark@markdemaio.com) and let me know what you think, I love comments, good or bad. I just like to hear what everyone is thinking! See you in September kids!
Peace and Love

SATURDAY JULY 10, 2010
The show in September in officially 8 short weeks away and I feel the nerves starting to kick in. Thank God for red wine! Alan Pepe of Alan Pepe Communications is handling the PR for the show and I couldn’t be more excited to have someone like him working with me on this, it’s a real honor to have Alan and his staff participate. So today I updated the site a bit. On the Goblin page are new select images from the show, they are just thumbnail’s of the art, the hi-res images will be added in mid-August along with the balance of the show, 20 pieces in all so thats exciting! Enjoy the new work, I hope you are all having a great summer so far and I look forward to seeing EVERYONE on Wednesday September 8th at 8pm.

SATURDAY MAY 15, 2010
Thursday’s opening party at VIG27 was a resounding success! I have to thank David Albiero and EVERYONE and VIG for making the night so special. I also have to thank the great Corey TuT who performed under less that perfect conditions, while suffering a sinus issue and still managed to sound amazing! The paintings looked really good hanging at VIG and lots and lots of old friends and many new friends as well made an appearance to lend support. The SHOCK of the night came from my oldest friends in the world, Marc and Sandi Carter who are both on the mend from life threatening  injuries they sustained this winter in a brutal car accident. I was shocked and delighted to see them there, truer friends they couldn’t be. It was also great to have playwright Fred Giacinto, Director Thom Fogerty, and CSI star Gerald McCullouch there. I was also honored to host musical genius Everett Bradley, painter Hillary Mance, art photographer Worm Carnavale and the living work of art, artist  MUFFINHEAD,  along with John and Chris, Joe, Jax and Don, Chip, Christina, Tommy, Scott, and Richard, and even Flanagan and too many others to mention, but you all have my heart felt thanks for coming. To everyone who came, you are all the very best, can’t live without you…well some of you I can but why name names!.  Remember, see you all on September 7th, 2010 for the entire collection of Absurd Notions at SYNCRONICITY FINE ART 106 WEST 13TH STREET, NYC. stay tuned for more details!!!

FRIDAY APRIL 30, 2010
Two great shows coming up! The first is really a prelude to the second. I am fortunate enough to be showing at the amazing VIG27 (119 East 27th btw.Park & Lex) during the month of May. The opening reception is on Thursday May 13th. It’s going to be a big fun night. I’m lucky enough to have the great Corey TuT performing a set that night as well, so it’s really going to be a blast,
DO NOT MISS IT!

I’m showing a few new pieces from the “Absurd Notions” series, and I’m also showing a couple my favorites from the last year.

Next, I also have a solo show coming in September, 2010. I’ll be showing the entire “ABSURD NOTIONS” series, should be about 20 pieces, and a few surprises scattered about, you’ll see…This will be at SYNCHRONICTY FINE ART on West 13th  Street, and the Opening reception will be on September 7th. It’s the day after Labor Day, we’ll all be back in town and what better way to celebrate fall then with an odd and exciting Opening of all my new, and might I add very disturbing paintings! Whimsical, yes, but before you get to comfortable…look a little closer! More info to come on this event as time draws near, but for now I hope to see you all at VIG27 on May 13th!

SUNDAY OCTOBER 11, 2009
Last Friday night, October 9th I was part of a group show called “Super Wow” it was hosted by the amazing MUFFINHEAD and the great Kenny Scahrf at Kenny’s space in Williamsburg. This was a brilliant opportunity for me and an honor to be included in a group of talent like Muffinhead, Kenny, Machine Dazzle, and many others, all gifted in their own right. The night was just a blast and had a great 80’s feel to it and if Andy Warhol had walked in I don’t think anyone would have been surprised (other than the fact that he’s dead). I’ve put up some pictures from the show/party for you all to see and there are more coming. I want to thank everyone who came, old friends and new, enjoy the pics and drop me an email (mark@markdemaio.com) and let me know what you think, especially about the new paintings...stay tuned for more new show info! Again, I just want to extend a huge thank you to Muffinhead, you’re art and efforts are more appreciated than you’ll ever know, I also want to thank Don Don and Scott Sargent for the use of their photography!

Wednesday September 16, 2009
I’ve been working on a lot of new things and I’m  quite excited. I’ve gone off on a bit of a tangent with the new work, I seem to be focusing on these people types with a lot of pointy things protruding off of them. This new series is called
“…And At The Edge Of The Earth, The Goblin Parade”© 2009.
I’ve always had a soft spot for pointy birthday/dunce hats and often wished that more people wore them as an everyday piece of wardrobe. I’d wear one but I don’t have a hat head. I’ll be posting images of the new work in the next few days. One of the best of the lot so far is already promised to someone (you know who you are), the others are equally fun and I think they will be enjoyed or despised.

I’ve put the Astro’s on the shelf for a bit and I have several new Recession Doll’s to put in here as well. Look for the new works soon and please remember I love feedback so write to me!! I’ll be in touch…
Cheers!

p.s look how cute I was when I was 4!
